I put everything I have in my spirit, soul, body, and bank account into this body of work. The earliest songs were started in 2020. For the last two years, finishing it has consumed me completely. I have a lot more to say, but i’ll wait til we announce the tracklist and credits and for the actual drop to get full on dramtic and sappy.
This cover is so special to me. I linked up with Te Gates via Curtiss Jacobs via my great friend Haqq, and went down to DC to play him the album in person (real life!). Him being from DC was full circle in itself as I went to college in DC - that’s where my very first mixtapes were created and where this whole music journey became solidified as what i was going to pursue, chase, embody. Te completely “got” the album and he and I clicked - we worked in lockstep on this cover and i’m honored that an artist of his magnitude would give himself so fully to this project.
I don’t wanna spoil the art or the mysteriousness with too much blabbing on and on — but it’s important to note at every turn how much went into every facet of this album, and how long each thing took. It took until it was done — and i think that process is an important act of rebellion in these times, and it’s one that i’m proud (albeit exhausted) to have made it through.
The next single drops next week. You can pre-save “The Internet Killed The Neighborhood” now.
